Dandruff
The pitiriasi dandruff or disorder is a very common, in which the scalp is covered with an abundant whitish desquamation. This small chip dried and pearls, other residues that are not cell death, and the replacement takes place more quickly than normal. This excessive disintegration called dandruff is often accompanied by itching and an annoying "snow", accentuated by the hairdo and the rubbing of 'skin. Such operations, in fact, facilitate the separation of scales, making the problem visible and in some ways embarrassing.
The good news is that, typically, the dandruff can be controlled effectively. When the noise is not too pronounced sufficient washing daily with special shampoo or lotion, with a certain fungicide and an effective washing, but at the same time not irritating to the skin.
The dandruff is problems typically male, males, in fact, produce greater amounts of sebum, possibly because of higher levels of androgens. Albeit with less frequency and intensity, the disorder is widespread in fair sex.
The dandruff is usually in early adulthood and tends to regress after 35-40 years. It is rare in children and the elderly.
Dandruff: what are its causes?
On the genesis of this disorder have been put forward several hypotheses, such as poor diet, stress, a natural tendency to dryness of the scalp, excessive production of sebum or washing too frequently or too thinned, with products not suited to own characteristics. Although some of these elements can actually help to accentuate the dandruff, it is hardly the case. In many cases, the real culprit is a fungus, the malassezia furfur (also known as pityrosporum), who lives on the scalps of most people without creating any discomfort. The problems occur when the colonies are too numerous and, nourished by the sebum to break down into fatty acids irritating, accelerate the skin cell replacement. (more…)
